Nana

Hi I'm Nana. and welcome to Rowan's website. 

I'm not one to talk about myself, but Rowan asked me to share about my life and what makes me so special.  I grew up in a farming community in Michigan and had what most would call a typical life.  Just one thing was different about me., my heart only beat 17 beats per minute.  I was born with Ventricular Septal Defect, or a hole in my heart and it never patched.  I had my first open heart surgery when I was 6.  They patched the hole in my heart, but when the doctor went to sew me back up, he cut my heart leaving it to beat slowly.  Other than that I lived a normal happy life.  I couldn't play sports and march in the band,   So I was on the yearbook committee and played in the regular band.  At 18 I met the man who would become my husband and from there my entire life changed.   I got a pacemaker at 23 and had my children and became a Nana at 61. 

My daughter, you know the one who's writing these books, she always thought I was magical in some way and that I would live forever.  I didn't do that in the physical sense, but then again, magic doesn't live in the physical sense.  I had planned on traveling the world in my retirement, and now I get to do that with each of you coming along from the ride.  So buckle up, cause if there's one thing I know... it's how to have a good time!
